PRESIDENT
Selection: The President is selected by the FA Executive Council for a 1-year term. The President must have served either as an Executive Council member or in an executive staff position for at least one year prior to his/her election to the Presidency.
Responsibilities:
Remuneration: Release time, generally 2/3 to 1 FTEF per year. Subject to review annually by the Executive Staff. An additional $2,640 per year stipend. Hours which are not included in the regular academic year are compensated at Step 1, Column 1, Appendix G.
VICE PRESIDENT
Selection: The Vice President is appointed by the FA Executive Council for a 1-year term.
Responsibilities:
These duties may be negotiated with the Executive Secretary and President and shifted, when appropriate, by mutual agreement of the parties involved. Release time or compensation will be awarded accordingly.
Remuneration: Release time or compensation, generally 1/2 FTE annually, to be reviewed by the Executive Staff. Hours which are not included in the regular academic year are compensated at Step 1, Column 1, Appendix G.
CHIEF NEGOTIATOR
Selection: The Chief Negotiator is selected by the FA Executive Council for a three-year term, or until the contract is signed off, subject to review each year. The Chief Negotiator shall have served on at least one previous negotiations team.
Responsibilities:
Remuneration: No less than 1/3 release time per quarter or compensation to be reviewed by the Executive Staff. An additional $2,640 per year stipend. Hours which are not included in the regular academic year are compensated at Step 1, Column 1, Appendix G.
ASSISTANT NEGOTIATOR
Selection: Negotiators are selected by the FA Executive Council for a three-year term, or until the contract is signed off, subject to review each year. Negotiators should be willing to serve on a team for a three year contract cycle. One assistant negotiator position will be filled by a part-time faculty member.
Responsibilities:
Remuneration: Release time and/or compensation. Amount of release time to be
determined by team with approval of Executive Staff. An additional $1,650 per year per team member. Hours which are not included in the regular academic year are compensated at Step 1, Column 1, Appendix G. In the case of the part-time faculty representative on the team, the compensation will be mutually agreed upon by the staff and negotiation team.
ASSOCIATE SECRETARY (FOR PART-TIME FACULTY INTERESTS)
Selection: The Associate Secretary is elected/selected/appointed by the FA Executive Council and serves as ex-officio member* of the Council for a one-year term. The position will be filled by a part-time faculty member with reemployment preference.
Responsibilities:
Remuneration: Release time and/or compensation equivalent to 2 assignments annually, paid at the appropriate step and column of Schedule A, subject to variability of load configuration and approval by the executive staff. Overtime hours and/or hours not included in the regular academic year are compensated at Column I, Step 1, Appendix G. As in the case of other staff positions, if the Associate Secretary is also an elected Executive Council member, he or she is an official voting member of the Council.
EXECUTIVE SECRETARY
Selection: The Executive Secretary is selected by the FA Executive Council for a 1-year term.
Responsibilities:
Remuneration: Reassigned time reviewed annually, subject to review by the Executive Staff. Hours which are not included in the regular academic year are compensated at Step 1, Column 1, Appendix G.
GRIEVANCE OFFICER
Selection: The Grievance Officer is appointed by the Faculty Association Executive Council for a three-year term, subject to review at the end of each year.
Responsibilities:
Remuneration: The Grievance Officer shall receive compensation in released time and/or monetary payments. The amount of released time shall be reviewed each year by the FA Executive Staff. Hours which are not included in the regular academic year are compensated at Step 1, Column 1, Appendix G.
CONCILIATOR
Selection: A conciliator for each campus is selected by the FA Executive Council for a provisional 3-year term starting with a probationary year, subject to termination by either party. Years two and three continued by mutual agreement.
Responsibilities:
Remuneration: Normally, 1/3 release time will be granted to each conciliator. The amount of released time will be reviewed each year by the FA Executive Staff. Hours which are not included in the regular academic year are compensated at Step 1, Column 1, Appendix G.
